Picturing Scotland: Ross & Cromarty
Content: The old county of Ross & Cromarty spreads from Cromarty, at the easternmost tip of the Black Isle, right across the breadth of northern Scotland to the Kyle of Lochalsh on the west. Between these two points lies an area similar to that of Cyprus, in which can be found a range of scenery and settlements not easily bettered by any other part of Scotland. The charm of historic towns like Cromarty is complemented by the awe-inspiring grandeur of mountains such as those of Inverpolly and Torridon. This book is arranged in the form of a photographic exploration of the county which starts in the east on the Black Isle, goes around the Cromarty Firth to Tain then strikes north-west to Inverpolly. From there it tracks roughly south-west through a variety of coastal and inland locations such as Ullapool, Gairloch, Kinlochewe and Plockton before reaching the southernmost extremity of the region around Kintail.
For a list of featured locations, see below.
Market: Books in this series are bought by visitors and locals alike to give as gifts or to keep for their own enjoyment. They are also helpful to those planning a visit as the book leads the reader on a geographical tour of the area. To visitors, they are a great reminder of a visit, while local people buy them to send to friends and family to show off where they live.
Author: Colin Nutt has worked in book publishing for over 40 years and has written/compiled more than 50 books in this and other series. He lives in Elgin.
